Print Guide

The files you download are print-ready at 300 DPI for three standard frame sizes. Here are short notes on getting the best result.

Paper

Use matte or fine-art paper, not glossy. The page was originally printed on inexpensive newsprint and will look most natural on a paper with some tooth and a warm white tone. Hahnemühle Photo Rag, Canson Edition Etching Rag, or your printer’s house “art” or “matte” stock are all good.

Sizes

  • 8×10 in — desktop frame, gift box, small wall.
  • 11×14 in — matted into a 16×20 frame, gallery wall.
  • 16×20 in — statement piece over a sofa or bed.

Printing at home

Most home photo printers handle 8×10 and 11×14 directly. Open the JPG in any photo viewer, print at 100% scale (do not “fit to page”), and select highest quality.

Printing through a service

Upload the JPG to any online print shop that does giclée or fine-art prints. Tell the printer to keep the warm paper tone — don’t balance to neutral white. The slight cream cast is the right look for a 100-year-old front page.

Framing

A simple frame works best: natural wood, brushed brass, or matte black. Use a mat with at least 2″ of space on all sides if you’re framing 8×10 into a 11×14 frame, or 11×14 into a 16×20.
